Master Builders has called on the State Government to scrap their metropolitan and regional ‘first home’ bonus schemes in favour of stamp duty cuts for ‘new home’ construction.
In metropolitan Melbourne, Master Builders is calling for a stamp duty cut of $10,000 for ‘new home’ construction under $500,000, with a strong emphasis on dual occupancy and medium density development.
In regional Victoria, Master Builders is calling for a stamp duty cut of $20,000 for ‘new home’ construction under $500,000, to channel population growth and boost regional economic activity.
Master Builders believes Victoria’s costly stamp duty regime undermines housing affordability by directly adding to the cost of housing. This policy proposal will tackle this problem head on.
What do you think?.
